Dr Agnes Atim Apea, the current woman member of Parliament representing Amolatar District speaks out on the previous demonstration that took place in Namasale town council which is in her constituency where locals were protesting in response to allegations made by Miss Katushabe Juliet, an administrator of an estate believed to belong to the late Kawaki Nafutali, a former resident of Bungu cell in Namasale Town Council, Amolatar District. In her comments today on this matter, Hon. Amolatar District Police Quell Unauthorized demonstration in Namasale, locals burnt houses, and Businesses burnt down

  Amolatar District Police have thwarted an unauthorized demonstration organized by locals in the Namasale area of Amolatar District. The protest was in response to allegations made by Miss Katushabe Juliet, an administrator of an estate believed to belong to the late Kawaki Nafutali, a former resident of Bungu cell in Namasale Town Council, Amolatar District.  Miss Katushabe claimed ownership of the land, equivalent to 100 acres which was allegedly occupied by Mr. Okello Moses from Bungu cell. The disputed land has remained vacant since the tribal conflict in 1979. Through her legal representation, Eyotr & Co. Advocates located on Makerere Hill Road, Mirembe House 3rd floor, she wrote to the chairperson of Bungu cell, requesting a meeting with the community members who have occupied the land to engage in a dialogue today July 17, 2023.  However, this proposal did not sit well with the local residents, leading them to organize an unlawful protest while awaiting the ar...
