Engola Okello Junior to hold NRM Flag for Oyam north by-election

Engola Okello Junior has been confirmed the NRM party flag bearer for the Oyam North by-election. The primary election result was declared on Saturday 17th.June. 2023  by the NRM party leaders has proved Okello Engola Junior as the party flag bearer for Oyam North after beating Queen Dorothy Amolo who declined to step down even after the NRM party spoke to her.

In the election results declared by NRM electoral commission chairman Dr. Tanga Odoi, at Marioshoni primary school in Oyam district; Engola Okello Junior garnered 532 votes (62.3%), beating Queen Dorothy Amolo who got 322 votes (37.7%).

The party leaders held a meeting with all the aspirants who were convinced to step down for Engola Junior. Among those who stepped down are; Otto Billie, Julius Peter Moto, Alfred Okello Obaro, and Abangakene Augustine.

Queen Dorothy Amolo declined to step down for Engola Junior who finally won the election.

Otto Billie said he decided to step down in respect to the party leadership.

Okello Obaro Alfred said he equally decided to respect the party and stepped down for Engola Junior but added that he will contest again in 2026.

Obangakene Augustine said he cannot pull ropes with NRM a reason he stepped down for Okello Engola Junior.

Ambassador Julius Peter Moto said he stepped down for Engola but will return to contest in Engola Okello Junior in 2026.

Engola Junior called for support from the NRM in the main election.

 

Mr. Tanga Odoi Appreciated the discipline shown by the Oyam NRM team which made the NRM primaries a free and fair election and he continued encouraging the people of Oyam North to continue embracing the NRM party and discipline as Oyam North goes to the main election in July 2023.
