Otuke District Hosts Peaceful Handover Ceremony of Instruments of Power and Authority

Otuke District, Uganda– In a significant administrative transition, Otuke District witnessed the peaceful handover of instruments of power and authority from the outgoing Resident District Commissioner (RDC), John Robert Adyama Ekajo, to Serere District. The ceremony, which took place in Otuke, marked a change in leadership, with Okwameri Francis stepping in as the new Deputy RDC. 

The ceremony was attended by several key officials, including the LC5 Chairman of Otuke District, the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Joshepo Lomongin, Deputy CAO James Igon, District Internal Security Officer (DISO) Denis Otim, and the Assistant Resident District Commissioner (ARDC) Mitala Umar. The handover was also overseen by Mr. Opio Isaac Opeo, another ARDC, who is tentatively assuming additional responsibilities to manage the leadership vacuum during the transition.

The event was marked by a harmonious and respectful transfer of power, with attendees lauding the peaceful nature of the handover. Speaking during the ceremony, ARDC Opio Isaac Opeo expressed his gratitude to the outgoing RDC, John Robert Adyama Ekajo, for his unwavering dedication to maintaining law and order in Otuke District. He commended Ekajo for restoring maximum security during his tenure, ensuring peace and stability across the district.

Mr. Opeo emphasized the importance of continuity in governance, thanking the outgoing RDC for his “contentious guidance” and strategic leadership, which have greatly benefited Otuke. He further pledged his commitment to uphold the standards set by his predecessors while working closely with the new Deputy RDC Okwameri Francis.

The gathering of district officials and security personnel signified a united front in supporting the newly assumed leadership. Attendees reiterated their commitment to maintaining peace, security, and development in Otuke as they welcomed Okwameri Francis to his new role.

The smooth and professional handover serves as a testament to the district’s commitment to stability and governance, setting a positive precedent for future transitions. 

Congratulations were extended to all parties involved, with hopes that Otuke District will continue to thrive under the new leadership.
