Minister of Health Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng Visits Ngetta Catholic Parish, Reaffirms Commitment to Development

Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero, the Lira City Woman MP and Minister of Health, visited Ngetta Catholic Parish on January 5, 2025, praising the community for their unity, faith, and dedication to development.

After attending mass at the Holy Martyrs’ Cathedral, Dr. Aceng engaged with catechists, religious leaders, and parishioners, pledging her continued support for the parish. She expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support during the 2021 general elections, where she triumphed with 35,054 votes. The Minister appealed for renewed support in the upcoming 2026 elections, promising further development initiatives for Lira City.

Dr. Aceng donated UGX 500,000 to the clergy and UGX 3 million to the Women Guild of Ngetta Parish, who reaffirmed their backing for her leadership. In return, she was gifted goats and tokens of appreciation by the catechists.

The Minister advised farmers to adopt President Museveni’s four-hectare model for increased productivity and poverty alleviation. She also encouraged group formation to harness government programs like Emyooga and cautioned against jealousy and disunity, emphasizing collective progress for the Lango sub-region.

Highlighting advancements at Lira Regional Referral Hospital, including the establishment of kidney dialysis and brain surgery services, Dr. Aceng reaffirmed her commitment to healthcare, education, and infrastructure development in the region.

Rev. Fr. Opio Constantine of Ngetta Parish commended her efforts and raised concerns about potential displacement of Ngetta Health Centre III due to ongoing road construction, urging her intervention.

Dr. Aceng concluded by calling for unity and focus on development, underscoring her strategic position as both MP and Minister to champion the region’s growth.

The visit left the parish hopeful for a brighter future under her continued leadership.
