Large Marijuana Plantations Destroyed in Amolatar District

Amolatar, Uganda – Police at Aputi Station, in collaboration with local leaders in Opali Sub-county, have destroyed extensive marijuana plantations in the villages of Opali, Aberamido A, Aderolongo, and Abuti. This action comes in response to escalating complaints from the community about youth engaging in criminal activities and forming a gang known as "OWUWUK."

The gang's ring leader was arrested last week, although many of his accomplices remain at large. According to the suspects, the marijuana was primarily distributed to towns, landing sites, and cities. The community's concerns included the influence of marijuana on the youth, leading to an increase in criminal behavior.

Authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to help maintain peace and safety in the area. The police and local leaders continue to work together to address these issues and support community well-being.
