Otuke District Commission's New Multibillion Health Facility: A Significant Milestone in Healthcare

Otuke District, Uganda - In a remarkable development, the Office of the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Otuke District today commissioned a multibillion health facility constructed with the support of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) government through the Ministry of Health, Uganda. The Ating Health Center II, now upgraded to Health Center III, has received a new maternity block equipped with modern facilities under the leadership of Hon. Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero, who also serves as the Woman Member of Parliament for Lira City, affectionately known as "Ceng Otedero".

The Otuke district community expressed profound gratitude to Hon. Dr. Aceng for delivering the state-of-the-art health facility, which is expected to greatly improve the health services for the people of Otuke District. Located in Ating Parish, Orum Sub-county, the upgraded Ating Health Center III will serve over 1,000 residents of Otuke and the surrounding districts.

Previously, the Government of Uganda, through the Ministry of Health, awarded a 1.9 billion UGX contract to BMK Construction Company to build a modern health facility in Ating. The newly commissioned facility includes a maternity ward, Outpatient Department (OPD), modern laboratory, toilets, incinerator, two staff blocks, and a water source powered by a solar system. The completed facility was officially handed over to the district today.

The commissioning ceremony was witnessed by key stakeholders including the District Chairperson of Otuke District, the District Health Officer (DHO), the Chief Administration Officer (CAO), LC3 representatives, community members, and mothers. During the event, mothers received mosquito nets to help prevent the spread of malaria. Isaac Opio Opeo, who was delegated by Senior RDC John Robert Adyama Ekajo, encouraged mothers to use the mosquito nets as guided by the Ministry of Health. He also urged the community to protect the facility from potential theft or vandalism.

Mr. Opeo highlighted the NRM government's commitment, under the leadership of H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, to developing Otuke District and ensuring the well-being of its residents as they recover from the insurgency of the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA). He commended the community for their support and urged them to continue backing President Museveni for steady development.

Additionally, Mr. Opeo emphasized the importance of regular health check-ups, especially now that the upgraded facilities are available within the community. He also encouraged mothers to immunize their children and urged the community to embrace various government programs such as the Parish Development Model (PDM), Youth Livelihood Program, Emyooga, and Operation Wealth Creation (OWC) for economic growth and transformation.

The new health facility marks a significant milestone in the healthcare sector of Otuke District, promising better health outcomes and improved quality of life for its residents.
