Minister of Health Dr. Jane Ruth Acheng Rallies Ugandans for National Day of Physical Activity


Kampala, Uganda - Hon. Dr. Jane Ruth Acheng, Minister of Health and Lira City Woman Member of Parliament, has called on Ugandans and non-Ugandans alike to participate in the National Day of Physical Activity slated for tomorrow, June 16, 2024. The event will be held at the Makerere Business School sports ground, starting at 6:00 AM, under the theme "Exercise is Medicine."



Dr. Acheng emphasized the importance of physical exercise in combating non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular diseases. She highlighted that regular physical activity is crucial for maintaining overall health and well-being.

"We need to embrace physical exercise as a daily routine to prevent and manage non-communicable diseases," Dr. Acheng stated. "Exercise is not just about fitness; it is a key component of a healthy lifestyle and an essential aspect of preventive healthcare."

The event is expected to draw a large crowd, with various activities planned to encourage participation and raise awareness about the benefits of physical exercise. Dr. Acheng's rallying call aims to inspire a culture of regular physical activity among Ugandans, contributing to a healthier nation.
