Water Relief Comes to Atira Cell, Lira City

Today, June 17, 2024, marked a joyous morning for the residents of Atira Cell, Ongura Ward, Lira City, as they woke up to the sight of a water drilling machine brought into their community. This initiative, spearheaded by Hon. Dr. Jane Ruth Acheng Ocero, the esteemed Member of Parliament for Lira City, aims to address the severe water shortages plaguing the area.

Local residents, who have long endured scarcity and the hardship of sharing water points with animals, expressed profound gratitude for the intervention. Mr. Jimmy Aloko, Chairperson of the LCI of Atira Cell, affirmed the dire situation, emphasizing how Dr. Jane's initiative will significantly improve their daily lives.

"The arrival of the water drilling machine is a blessing," Mr. Aloko remarked, "We used to compete with livestock for water access. Now, thanks to Dr. Jane, we see hope."

The sentiment echoed across Atira Cell, with residents pledging unwavering support for Dr. Jane. They hailed her as a leader committed to resolving community challenges effectively and promptly.

Political Assistant to Dr. Jane, Imat Zena Opolot, underscored the MP's dedication to fulfilling her campaign promises. "Dr. Jane is delivering on all fronts outlined in her manifesto," Opolot stated. "By the end of her tenure, we are confident all her commitments will be fulfilled."

Furthermore, Opolot urged the community to establish a water user committee to ensure the sustainability of the boreholes being installed by Dr. Jane. This, she believes, will play a crucial role in maintaining the infrastructure and maximizing its benefits for years to come.

Deputy RCC of Lira City, Mr. Otucu Bonny, emphasized the timeliness of the project in addressing the community's needs. "Water scarcity has been a pressing issue," Mr. Bonny noted, "Since Dr. Jane took office, we've seen remarkable strides in rehabilitating and drilling boreholes across Lira City."

He commended Dr. Jane for her proactive approach to tackling local challenges, particularly in providing essential services like water access.

As the drilling commences in Atira Cell, optimism pervades the community, buoyed by the tangible impact of Dr. Jane's initiatives. Her efforts continue to resonate deeply among residents, underscoring her commitment to improving the quality of life in Lira City.
